Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration is committing $150,000 to WVU Medicine’s Robert Sonneborn Family Pediatric Center, supporting expanded pediatric care and bringing convenient, child-focused services closer to families across the Ohio Valley.
Wheeling, West Virginia Sep 24, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration is proud to announce a $150,000 commitment to WVU Medicine's Robert Sonneborn Family Pediatric Center, currently under construction in Wheeling. The contribution continues Panhandle's longstanding support of WVU Medicine Children's and will help bring expanded pediatric care closer to families throughout the Ohio Valley.
The new pediatric center represents a $16 million investment in children and families across the region. The facility is designed to provide comprehensive pediatric services in a convenient, child-focused environment, reducing the need for many local families to travel hours to receive specialized care.
"Panhandle has been a part of Children's Hospital for a really long time, all the way from the galas to the construction of the new hospital in Morgantown," said Bob Contraguerro Jr., Vice President of Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration. "When they decided to do this pediatric center here in Wheeling for the great people of the Ohio Valley, we wanted to be a part of that also."
The Robert Sonneborn Family Pediatric Center is expected to include approximately 40 exam rooms, an after-hours clinic and Austin's Playroom, creating a centralized destination for pediatric services.
"We have always said we wanted this to be a one-stop shop and we want to make it as convenient as possible," said Doug Harrison, president and CEO of WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital. "We didn't want them dragging their kids through the hospital for appointments."
"Around the reception desk, there's going to be some unique things that they're sponsoring because that's the first thing you're going to see when you walk in," Harrison said.
The facility is also designed with the health, safety, and comfort of young patients in mind. Plans call for separate entrances and areas for well and sick patients, with green identifying well-patient areas and blue identifying sick-patient areas to help reduce the potential for cross-contamination.
Each exam room is also expected to feature an Oglebay-themed mural created by West Liberty University students, bringing familiar scenes from the Ohio Valley into an environment designed specifically for children.
For Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration, the commitment reflects the company's belief that investing in the communities it serves extends far beyond its restoration work.
"It could be your own child, it could be your grandchild, a niece, nephew, and any of them could need something like this," Contraguerro said. "To have it just helps us out."
The Robert Sonneborn Family Pediatric Center is currently on schedule and on budget, according to hospital officials, with an anticipated opening in March 2027.
